Preparation steps

  1. Prepare the rice. Use special round-grain rice for sushi, it is more sticky, so the onigiri will hold its shape better. Wash the rice thoroughly, drain the water 3-4 times. Cook the rice according to the instructions on the package or use our detailed sushi rice preparation technology.
  2. If using canned tuna, drain the liquid and mix the tuna with mayonnaise (if desired).
  3. Wet your hands with water to prevent the rice from sticking and take a small amount of rice.Spread the rice in the palm of your hand, make a small indentation in the center and put some filling there.Cover the filling with rice, add a little more rice if needed, and shape it into a triangle or ball.Repeat with other portions of rice and filling.
  4. Cut the nori into strips about 3 cm wide. Wrap a strip of nori around the bottom of each onigiri.
  5. If desired, sprinkle the onigiri with sesame seeds and serve with wasabi on the side.
