Kung Pao Chicken

Juicy chicken, crispy vegetables, spicy sauce and fried nuts – a classic of Chinese cuisine that is easy to prepare at home. With Katana products, you don’t need a restaurant to experience the true taste of Asia

Ingredients:

  • Chicken thigh (fillet) — 500 g
  • Katana soy sauce — 4 tbsp. l.
  • Katana rice vinegar — 2 tbsp. l.
  • Cornstarch — 4 tbsp. l.
  • Egg white (or whole egg, if doubling the portion)
  • Water — 50 g
  • Honey — 2 tbsp. l.
  • Ginger (fresh) – 10 g
  • Chili – optional
  • Bulgarian pepper – 1 pc.
  • Onion – 1 pc.
  • Zucchini or zucchini – 1 pc. (You can also add eggplant, green peas, etc.)
  • Garlic – 2-3 cloves
  • Green onions – a few feathers (chop coarsely)
  • Fried peanuts or cashews – a handful

Method of preparation:

  1. Preparing the chicken
    Cut the chicken into small pieces. Add soy sauce – 2 tbsp., rice vinegar – 1 tbsp., starch – 2 tbsp. and egg white. Mix well and leave to marinate for 10–15 minutes.
  2. Preparing the sauce
    In a bowl, mix all the ingredients for the sauce: soy sauce – 2 tbsp., rice vinegar – 2 tbsp., water, honey, starch – 2 tbsp., grated ginger and chili (optional).
  3. Preparing the vegetables
    Cut the vegetables into pieces, approximately the same size as the chicken. Grate or finely chop the ginger and garlic.
  4. Frying
    Heat a frying pan or wok over high heat. Fry the chicken until golden brown (not cooked through) and set aside.
    In the same frying pan, fry the onion, after 2–3 minutes add the remaining vegetables, fry for another 2 minutes – the vegetables should remain crispy.
    Add the ginger, garlic, prepared sauce, green onions and nuts. Simmer everything together for 1–2 minutes until the sauce thickens.
